Something New – Hot Smoke Barbeque Sauce!
Smoky, sweet, tangy,…..all those things that you like in a barbeque sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 Large onion, coarsely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
- ½ red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 Tablespoon canola Oil
- 2 Tablespoon Butter
- ½ teaspoon celery seed
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon ground chipotle pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 Tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 ½ Cup ketchup
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 Tablespoon shredded horseradish
- ¾ Cup dark brown sugar
- 3 Tablespoons molasses
- ¼ Cup cider vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ Cup apple juice or cider
- Salt & pepper to taste
Directions
- Sauté onions, bell pepper and garlic in oil and butter in a stock pot over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until tender.
- Sprinkle the cumin, chipotle pepper, celery seed and smoked paprika over the vegetables.
- Stir for 1 minute, until fragrant. Add the next ingredients stirring after each addition.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low, and simmer 20 minutes or until thickened, stirring often. (if too thick add a little more apple juice).
- Use an immersion blender or food processor to make the sauce smooth. Good for chicken, ribs, and burgers.
